Our Roots
From the Heart of Beruwala
THE GEMS FORT draws its name and spirit from the historic "PATTAH" gem market in Beruwala, situated within the renowned CHINAFORT division. Our journey began in 1992, founded by Mohamed Faiz, a master gem polisher whose precision and artistry with rough-cut Sapphires earned him a distinguished reputation among the early merchants of Beruwala and beyond.
His deep-rooted expertise in the physical transformation of stones naturally evolved into a passion for trading, leading to a full-scale involvement in the global gemstone business. In 2016, the legacy was formalized as a partnership firm (Registration No. WKK 9774), bringing together Mohamed Faiz and his two sons, Mohamed Afrath and Mohamed Althaf.
Today, THE GEMS FORT stands as a proud, long-term member of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) of Sri Lanka, committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and excellence in the industry.
